Almost 100 participants from across the energy industry learnt the answer to this question and more about the 5 main usage patterns of AusNet residential customers at the online knowledge sharing session ‘Bringing our customer segments to life’.

The session was held on 7 June and presented by members of AusNet’s Research and Engagement and Regulation Teams. In doing so, AusNet profiled the innovative customer segmentation study that, for the first time, combines residential customer attitude surveys with smart meter data.

Participants heard about the project rationale and research methods, got a snapshot of key segments and discussed 4 usage cases associated with the research findings.

‘This innovative study provides rich and insightful new learnings about our residential customers’ consumption patterns, characteristics, motivations, and attitudes towards key aspects of the energy transition’ said Customer Engagement Manager, Lucy Holder.

‘We’re really excited about it because it’s the first time a study like this has been done. The project was a partnership between AusNet’s Research and Demand Forecasting teams, and is a really good demonstration of the great ideas you can come up when different skill sets come together.'

Thanks to all those who participated in the session. We appreciate the interest in this topic and the opportunity to build a better understanding of customer needs amid the energy transition.
